Kyudo Notebook: Glycerin

One small thing. Until the seminar I’d been using the Tenkyu lotion/powder in place of fudeko. It does the job very well, but because it leaves very clear, bright white fingerprints on the sleeve of my black kimono, it’s always been a bit troublesome.

So the day before the seminar I decided to try glycerin, which is transparent, so it leaves no visible marks even on deep black cloth. I got 500ml at the pharmacy and transferred some to a more convenient 18ml pump spray bottle. It works great. The only thing is that you have to be careful not to use too much, or the grip of the bow can become quite slick. You want it to be tacky. So I’ll try using that for the season, or at least when I’m wearing kimono.
